FAQ

Below are the answers to our most frequently asked questions.  If you have additional questions, please reach out to a leader or send us an email at fatepack163@gmail.com.

When and where do you meet?

Our regular, weekly meetings take place at Liberty Baptist Church (850 Blackland Road, Fate TX) at 6:30 p.m. most Monday evenings through the school year.  Our meetings are about an hour long.  For more detailed information, please see the Meetings & Events page.

What are the costs associated with scouting?

We have a due schedule that includes fees calculated and set by the Boy Scouts of America, which pays for resources that help us deliver the scouting program to your youth--curriculum, programming, training, and apps, in addition to support and events on district, council, and national levels.  The additional fees in our schedule help us obtain supplies needed, and help fund all of our fun scouting activities, camping trips, and parties.

Current fees are as follows: (last updated 09-2024)

Lion - $132

Tiger - $132

Wolf - $132

Bear - $132

Webelos - $99

Arrow of Light - $99

Please note, these amounts do not include the required class A uniform.

These fees are due to the Pack Treasurer by November 1 of each year to ensure the pack has the necessary funds to recharter by the deadline.

When is a good time to get started?

Right now!  Our program year follows the school year, and we generally try to ease into weekly meetings just after Labor day, and try to finish up by May.  We know the beginning and end of the school year are always pretty hectic and we don't want to add to the chaos, especially for the little ones.  We do fun stuff year-round, though, so even if we aren't meeting weekly we would still love to have your family with us on our fun summertime adventures!

What den will my child be assigned to?

That depends on your child's current grade!  The ranks are as follows:

Kindergarten – Lion

1st grade – Tiger

2nd grade – Wolf

3rd grade – Bear

4th grade – Webelos

5th grade - Arrow of Light

Does your pack participate in summer camps?

Absolutely!  We attend both twilight camp (for the younger Cubs) and resident camp (for the older kiddos) in the summer as well as periodically attending day camps and other events organized by the Council and District.  We share information and details about camps and events with our parents as soon as we have it each year, but to give you an idea: Lions, Tigers, Wolves, and Bears will attend Twilight Camp in June for an estimated $60. Webelos will attend resident camp in June for an estimated $160. The pack generally dedicates a spring fundraiser to help our scouts with these costs. The Pack is committed to all boys attending camp, so ask us how we can help if you need financial assistance.

How do we sign up?

Signing up is so easy!  Just head on over to my scouting and fill out the application by clicking here.  You must create a scouting account if you haven't already, and once your application is completed, BSA will drop your scout right into our Pack and we can get the adventure started!  Please note, the $25 one time registration fee paid during this application process is paid to BSA directly and does not go toward your scout's Pack dues.
